What size are the blocks and the finished quilt?
The blocks finish to 12” square. The final quilt will finish to approximately 52” x 66”.
How do I know how much fabric to buy?
As this is a mystery quilt, you won’t see the whole quilt until it is nearly completed. However, we understand that you need to know the yardage for the full quilt at the beginning of the program. Yardage requirements are listed in the General Instructions available to download at any point during the program.
What do I do with these patterns?
You are only limited by your imagination! You can use the blocks to create a quilt, or use the block designs individually for wallhangings, pillows, tote bags, and more. Please note that you cannot sell products using these patterns.
Can I purchase the fabrics you used?
Yes! We have a Block of the Month program available. Sign up for just $10, and then each month you will be charged $25 (U.S.) or $30 (International) - shipping is included! - and sent the fabrics, embellishments, and embroidery floss necessary for that month’s block.
Can I print multiple copies to give to friends?
We’d love for you to encourage your friends to download the pattern directly from us. However, we understand that this is not always possible and therefore we allow you to give away copies of the pattern. The only thing we require is that you do not sell the patterns.
When will the blocks be available and for how long?
The blocks will be uploaded around the 7th of each month. You can access them via our blog or by using the Free Patterns link on the bottom toolbar of our website. The General Instructions, FAQs, and Blocks 1 - 12 will be available through March of 2013. We will keep the Finishing Instructions up through May of 2013. Starting in June of 2013, we will have the pattern set available for sale.
How do I download the pattern?
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or another program which can open PDF files. You can get a free copy of this software at http://get.adobe.com/reader/

We encourage you to join our Flickr group so you can share your blocks and get inspiration from others! Signing up is free. What applique method did you use?
We used a combination of methods. For the wool felt, we used the fusible applique method. For the cotton fabrics, we used the spray starch method. View our video tutorials on the spray starch method of applique on YouTube. The supplies needed for this method of applique can be found here. If you prefer, you can use fusible applique (or any other method) for the entire block.
What embroidery floss colors did you use?
Block 1 uses DMC 801, 310, and 3865
Block 2 uses DMC 801, 3721, and 3865
Floss needs for future blocks will be added as they are determined.
