Spring Quilt Kits

Spring Quilt Kits for a Fresh Start

Spring has a way of making us want to create.

Flowers begin blooming, gardens wake up, birds return and color finds its way back into the landscape.

Our Spring Quilt Kits bring that same feeling into your sewing room with projects inspired by flowers, gardens, animals, Easter, warmer days and all the little signs that spring has arrived.

Whether you're looking for a quilt to curl up under, a wall hanging for the entryway, a table runner for Easter dinner or a small project you can finish in a weekend, you'll find plenty of ways to sew the season.

What Is a Spring Quilt Kit?

A spring quilt kit brings together the fabrics and pattern needed to make a specific spring-inspired project, according to the contents listed on the individual product page.

Instead of finding each fabric separately, you can begin with a coordinated project where the major fabric decisions have already been made for you.

That makes quilt kits particularly useful when:

• you love the project exactly as shown

• coordinating fabrics are important to the design

• you're sewing for a particular season

• you want to spend less time gathering supplies

• you're trying a new quilting technique

• you're making a handmade gift

Always check the individual kit description before purchasing to see exactly what is included and whether backing, batting, thread, embellishments or other supplies are sold separately.

Spring Flowers in Fabric

Nothing says spring quite like flowers.

Spring quilting gives you an entire garden to choose from—delicate blossoms, dramatic bouquets, hydrangeas, daisies, wildflowers and colorful garden-inspired prints.

Floral quilt kits can work beautifully throughout the home because they aren't limited to a single holiday.

Display a floral wall hanging in March.

Set a flower-filled runner on the table in April.

Make a garden quilt for May.

And keep enjoying it long after spring has passed.

Garden-Inspired Quilt Kits

For gardeners and quilters, spring brings two favorite hobbies together.

Garden-inspired quilt kits can feature flowers, leaves, butterflies, bees, birds and other familiar sights from the backyard.

These projects are especially lovely for sunrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, entryways, sewing rooms and handmade gifts for gardeners.

A garden quilt doesn't have to wait for a special occasion. It's simply a beautiful way to bring the outdoors into your home.

Easter Quilt Kits

Spring also brings Easter—and plenty of opportunities for cheerful seasonal sewing.

Look for projects featuring bunnies, Easter eggs, spring flowers, carrots, chicks, baskets, pastel colors and playful seasonal appliqué.

Small Easter projects are an easy way to decorate without changing an entire room. A table runner, wall hanging, pillow or kitchen project may be all you need to make your home feel ready for the holiday.

Butterflies, Birds & Bees

Spring isn't only about flowers.

Some of our favorite spring projects celebrate the creatures that return to the garden with warmer weather.

Butterflies add color and movement. Birds bring personality. Bees are perfect companions to floral and garden designs.

These motifs can appear in traditional patchwork, printed fabric, embroidery, Foundation Paper Piecing or appliqué, giving you plenty of ways to interpret the season in your own sewing style.

Spring Appliqué & Laser-Cut Kits

Appliqué is particularly well suited to spring.

Flowers, leaves, birds, butterflies, umbrellas, watering cans and other seasonal shapes can become beautiful focal points against pieced or fabric backgrounds.

Shabby Fabrics is especially known for laser-cut appliqué kits, which can remove one of the most time-consuming parts of an appliqué project.

When a kit includes pre-fused laser-cut appliqué pieces, much of the tracing, fusing and cutting has already been done for you. That means you can get to the creative part sooner.

Always review the individual product description to see exactly what is included in a particular kit.

Spring Patchwork Quilt Kits

Prefer piecing?

Spring works just as beautifully in traditional patchwork.

Florals, fresh greens, soft blues, pinks, yellows and other spring colors can completely change the personality of familiar quilt blocks.

Stars become lighter and brighter. Geometric quilts become garden-inspired. Traditional blocks can feel fresh simply because of the fabrics surrounding them.

That's one of the things we love about quilting: the same block can tell an entirely different story when the fabric changes.

Foundation Paper Piecing for Spring

Foundation Paper Piecing, often abbreviated FPP, makes it possible to create crisp points and detailed pieced imagery with remarkable precision.

Our spring selection includes Foundation Paper Piecing projects that bring seasonal motifs into smaller quilts, wall hangings and decorative projects.

If you've been curious about the technique, a small seasonal project can be a manageable way to try FPP without committing to an entire bed quilt.

Spring Wall Hanging Kits

A wall hanging is one of the easiest ways to change your décor with the seasons.

You don't need a spare bed or a large wall.

A smaller quilt can add spring color to an entryway, kitchen, hallway, sewing room, office, bedroom or breakfast nook.

Spring wall hangings can feature everything from flowers and gardens to bunnies, birds and seasonal words. And because they're smaller than bed quilts, they're often easier to finish in time to enjoy during the season.

Spring Table Runner Kits

The dining table is another wonderful place to celebrate spring.

A spring table runner kit can add seasonal color without requiring a major decorating change.

Choose florals for an everyday spring table, Easter motifs for the holiday or fresh patchwork that can stay out throughout the season.

Table runners also make wonderful gifts because they're useful, decorative and more manageable to complete than a full-size quilt.

Table Toppers, Placemats & Kitchen Projects

Spring sewing doesn't have to mean making a quilt.

Small projects can make an equally noticeable difference around your home.

Look for spring-inspired table toppers, placemats, cloth napkins, hanging towels, hot pads and other kitchen accessories.

These projects are especially useful when you're short on sewing time but still want the satisfaction of finishing something.

Spring Block of the Month Projects

Want a project you can enjoy over time?

A Spring Block of the Month can turn seasonal sewing into an ongoing experience.

Rather than making the entire quilt at once, you'll work through the project in stages according to the particular program.

Block of the Month quilts can be especially rewarding when the design contains detailed appliqué, embroidery or varied blocks that deserve to be enjoyed individually along the way.

Explore current Block of the Month Programs & Clubs to find a longer-term project you'll look forward to working on.

Always review the individual BOM listing for its schedule, payment structure, included materials and other program details.

Small Spring Projects

Not every project needs to become an heirloom bed quilt.

Sometimes you just want to sew.

Smaller spring projects can give you the satisfaction of choosing a kit, sitting down at your machine and seeing progress quickly.

They're wonderful for weekend sewing, retreats, trying a new technique, seasonal decorating and handmade gifts.

A small wall hanging or runner can bring just as much spring personality into a room as a much larger quilt.

Spring Hand Embroidery Kits

Need a relaxing handwork project?

Spring motifs translate beautifully into hand embroidery.

Flowers, gardens, family themes, inspirational messages and seasonal imagery can become portable projects you can enjoy away from your sewing machine.

Explore our Hand Embroidery Kits when you're in the mood for stitching by hand.

Spring Cross Stitch Kits

Cross stitch offers another way to enjoy spring crafting.

Small spring pictures, florals, family themes and other seasonal imagery make cross stitch projects easy to take along and satisfying to watch come to life one stitch at a time.

Browse Cross Stitch Kits for spring designs and projects for every season.

Spring Quilt Kits for Beginners

If you're newer to quilting, don't assume every beautiful spring project is beyond your skill level.

Look for designs with straightforward patchwork, larger pieces, simple construction, panel-based layouts, clear instructions or smaller finished sizes.

A table runner, wall hanging or small quilt can be a great first seasonal project.

If you're considering a specialized technique such as appliqué or Foundation Paper Piecing, review the product description and any available tutorials before beginning so you know what to expect.

Spring Projects for Experienced Quilters

Experienced quilters can find plenty to keep things interesting too.

Choose a project with intricate appliqué, more involved piecing, detailed embellishment, embroidery or a larger finished size.

Or choose something simple simply because you love it.

Sometimes you want a challenge.

Sometimes you want to finish something beautiful by Sunday afternoon.

Both are good reasons to sew.

Make Something for Easter

If you're sewing specifically for Easter, think about where you'll use the finished project.

For the dining room, consider a table runner, topper or placemats.

For an entryway, try a wall hanging or door decoration.

For a child or grandchild, choose a bunny-themed quilt or another playful design.

And when Easter is the star of the project, head directly to our Easter Quilt Kits to see the complete seasonal collection.

Seasonal quilts become part of family traditions precisely because we see them again year after year.

Make Something for Mother's Day

Spring quilting also arrives just in time for Mother's Day.

A handmade table runner, wall hanging, quilt or embroidered project can become a particularly meaningful gift because of the time and care that went into making it.

Florals and garden themes are natural choices, but the best project is ultimately the one that feels like the person you're making it for.

Spring Quilts Can Last Beyond Spring

A spring quilt doesn't necessarily have to be packed away in June.

Many floral, botanical, bird, butterfly and garden-inspired designs transition beautifully into summer and can remain part of your décor much longer.

If you want a project with maximum seasonal flexibility, choose motifs inspired by nature rather than a specific holiday.

If you love decorating distinctly for Easter, lean into bunnies, eggs and other recognizable holiday imagery.

There's room for both.

What Comes in a Spring Quilt Kit?

Kit contents vary by project.

Depending on the specific kit, it may include fabrics for the quilt top, binding, a pattern, laser-cut appliqué pieces, embroidery floss, embellishments or other project-specific components.

Some kits may include backing; many do not.

Always read the individual product description before purchasing so you know exactly what your selected kit contains.

That is particularly important for projects requiring backing, batting, thread, fusible products, specialty rulers or other notions.

Choosing the Right Spring Quilt Kit

With so many different projects, start by asking yourself three questions:

What do I want to make?

A quilt? Table runner? Wall hanging? Kitchen project? Something small?

How do I want to make it?

Patchwork? Appliqué? Foundation Paper Piecing? Embroidery? Cross stitch?

How much time do I want to spend?

A small seasonal project may be perfect for a weekend. A larger quilt or Block of the Month may become a longer creative journey.

Once you know those three things, choosing becomes much easier.
