Bindings
Free Quilting Pattern Downloads and Video Tutorials
Nearly every quilt needs a binding. Once a quilt top is sewn together, whether it's patchwork or appliqué, then comes the batting and backing. The quilter then sews the layers together using their own sewing machine or perhaps a mid-arm or long arm quilting machine. Once that's complete the four sides of the quilt all have raw edges and need to be bound together. This is where binding comes in! Most quilters prefer 2-1/2" binding strips although some prefer 2-1/4" strips. Either way there are many techniques to binding a quilt. Our Free Quilt Binding tutorials from Shabby Fabrics show you many approaches and methods of accomplishing this important step.
