Meet Nina Stajner: The Artist Behind the Illustrations

Nina Stajner, also known as Nina Štajner, is an illustrator and graphic design graduate whose soft, whimsical animals bring a storybook charm to her fabrics for Dear Stella. Her gentle compositions invite you to pause and appreciate the little details—a woodland creature, a delicate flower, or a sweet expression that makes you smile.

Working primarily with watercolors, gouache, and colored pencils, Nina also incorporates digital techniques into her creative process. Personal projects give her room to experiment and explore new ideas alongside her client work.

Outside the studio, Nina enjoys nature, travel, baking, cycling, yoga, and handmade crafts. That appreciation for everyday beauty echoes through her illustrations, making collections such as Little Forest, ABCs of Love, and Count On Me lovely starting points for keepsake quilts and thoughtful gifts.

Explore Little Forest Woodland Fabrics

Little Forest captures the appeal of Nina Stajner’s woodland illustrations. Sweet animals and nature motifs offer plenty to discover, with light and dark backgrounds creating different moods.

Use a larger piece to showcase a forest scene, or carefully cut individual motifs for featured patchwork blocks. Pair detailed prints with quieter coordinates so the animals remain easy to appreciate. Explore more animal fabrics for additional inspiration.

Make a Keepsake Baby Quilt or Children’s Project

Nina’s gentle illustrations are especially appealing for projects made with a little one in mind. A quilt featuring friendly animals can become a thoughtful baby shower gift, while a cheerful wall hanging adds personality to a nursery or child’s room.

Collections such as ABCs of Love and Count On Me offer additional possibilities for playful projects. Choose a pattern that gives the featured artwork enough room to shine, and use smaller prints to connect the colors throughout your design.

Browse baby and children’s patterns and explore baby and children’s fabrics for complementary choices.

Showcase the Artwork with Fabric Panels

Selected Nina Stajner collections include panels that can become the centerpiece of a quilt or wall hanging. Adding coordinating borders allows you to frame the illustration while preserving the details that first caught your eye.

Check each listing for panel measurements and layout before choosing a pattern. Explore our quilt panel fabrics for more ideas, and consider how the finished project will display the artwork.

Choose Yardage or Coordinating Precuts

Fabric by the yard gives you flexibility to purchase the amount needed for a featured print, border, background, or binding. Selected Nina Stajner collections also offer Fat Quarter Bundles, 10-inch squares, and 2½-inch strip packs.

Available formats and piece counts vary by collection. Compare the package contents with your pattern requirements, including any additional background and backing fabric.

Carry a Favorite Print onto the Back of Your Quilt

Selected Nina Stajner collections include 108-inch wide backing fabrics. These provide another opportunity to enjoy a favorite animal or nature print while reducing the need to piece the backing, depending on your quilt’s dimensions.

Explore 108-inch quilt backing fabrics and confirm the backing size required for your finished quilt and quilting method.
